Did you realise that a London fitness trainer is different to any other?
Just as living in London is different to living anywhere else in
England, so are the requirements of those who live there.
Fitness London
Life
in London is stressful. The city is crowded, the weather can be
irritating and most people work exceptionally long hours; but people
live in London because they love it.
They love
the life and the love the atmosphere. The key to being a successful
fitness trainer in London is about using aspects of London which
Londoners love. Unlike some other cities in London the local parks have
'dog toilets' this means that the grass (assuming it is dry) is fine to
use. The Londoners obsessions with poop scooping means that training
outside is a great opportunity. Clients love the idea of training in
parks as they have normally been locked in an office all day and have
probably had to sit on the tube for a while simply to get to their
appointment with you.
Londoners are pro active
people and you can see this in the parks. A couple of years ago the
Mayor of London put aside some money for renovation of the parks. Many
areas formed groups to represent their claims. For those who didn't get
any awards, it meant that the groups were in place and they then began
to campaign local businesses and councils to get what the mayor had not
awarded them.
So as you can see using the the
parks means that a London fitness trainer can incorporate an aspect
close to the hearts of many of his clients.
To
get the most out of London living you need to good at extremes. You need
to be able to gear yourself up and wind down and relax. So a strong
mental and physical stance is essential.
This
is why being a London fitness trainer can be a challenge, but also a
great way to meet the best Londoners. Experience has taught me that
Londoners are special, and also that they don't realise it.
Training,
and I mean educational training, has taught me that the body is a
hugely versatile piece of kit. The body will always try to adapt to its
environment. So Londoners tend to have a lot of energy; its like a
frenetic energy. They have a buzz that makes the glow of a Ready Break
child look like nothing.
Londoners are great at
training, but they are often so driven that they don't always look
after all the aspects of themselves. I try to spend time to make sure
that all my clients have a good attitude to life. We all know that a
smoothie I the morning is better than a cup of coffee. But sometimes
applying these facts to our actually lives is
easier
said than done. Old habits are hard to break, and sometimes we just
don't want to break them. I remember suggesting that a client cut back
on coffee, he laughed for about five minuets and announced that drinking
coffee was an essential part of the way he controlled a room. He used
the offer of coffee to make him stand while others sat.
He
used this physical situation to make people look up to him. They looked
only at him while he poured their coffee, and this was the instant when
many deals were closed. This is why being a London fitness trainer is
about understanding Londoners and enjoying their amazing view of the
world.
The essential things to remember when
personal training a Londoner is that they are some of the most open
minded people around. They live highly structured lives, and their
survival comes from their ability to adapt. They have taken to extremes
what the body does naturally. So the life of a London fitness trainer is
one I could not ever imagine
